Rihana,  was born in a family which believed that woman cannot have any rights for themselves and they are the tool which can be used only for procreation.

Until the age of six, she was not even given education as her family’s social practices says that “what is the use of woman being educated?”

Rihana’s father was alcoholic, abusive and doubted the chastity of her mother. Every day there was physical assault leaving Rihana and her siblings, outside the locked house. After such clash, when the young children entered their house, they could see only the bruised face of their mother.

This prolonged incident lead one day to a brutal attack by the father with dangerous weapon and hanging the mother to death. Hence, he was sent to jail.

Rihana and her five siblings became destitute and did not know what the future is all about. Her future seemed gloomy, hopeless, filled with despair.

At the age of 11, she was rescued from this state of anguish and pain.

When Rihana reached us, she was filled with grief, sorrow and confusion. She couldn’t understand what was happening to her.

We gave her assurance of safety and care. We admitted her in formal School, where she excelled well and developed an ambition of becoming a Medical Doctor in future.

Rihana, always said that she felt safe in the hands of the caretakers of our Children home.
